Katniss's sister, Prim, is only twelve and has no tesserae, so her name is only in once. Katniss returns home, and after she gets ready, go with her mother and Prim to town square. That is where reaping, which is televised and treated like a festive event, takes place in their District. In the square, mayor gave a speech that provided history of the Hunger Games. Strike by droughts, storms, rising seas, and other natural problems, North America essentially dissolve, and the country of Panem rose up in its place.
Panem was formed of the Capitol and thirteen districts, but districts eventually rebel. Capitol defeat districts, with the thirteenth being so badly destroyed that they ceased to exist. To punish districts and remind them of their powerlessness, Capitol hold Hunger Games, in which male and female tribute between twelve and eighteen from each District must fight to death in a large outdoor arena.
Arrow hits the outer circle of target in Hunger Games, amply faithful adaptation of Suzanne Collins ' monster young-adult best-seller that could have used higher blood count in more ways than one. As she do in her breakthrough film Winter's Bone, Jennifer Lawrence anchors this futuristic and politicized elaboration of Most Dangerous Game with impressive gravity and presence, while director Gary Ross gets enough of what matters in the book up on screen to satisfy its legions of fans worldwide.
This Lionsgate release is being positioned as the hottest property for the teen audience since Twilight, and there's no reason to believe that box office results won't land roughly in that vaunted vicinity.
Giant opening weekend beginning March 23, which is all but guarantee, will no doubt trigger the green light for the second big-screen installment in the series, for which three lead actors are already set. A Speculative fiction piece about a year-old expert hunter who becomes one of 24 teenagers to compete in an annual televised combat spectacle from which only one will emerge alive, Collins' tale rips along on the page with unflagging momentum while generating legitimate suspense and strong rooting interest in its resourceful heroine.
So visually vivid are the book's episodes that you can practically picture the film version while reading it, meaning that it would have been foolish for any filmmaking team to veer far from the source. With Collins on board as both co-screenwriter and executive producer, there was little chance of that, so it's more a matter of emphasis and cinematic elan.
Ross, Collins and third writer Billy Ray have stressed the fascistic political side of the story, pointing up micromanaged manipulations of the public and the Games themselves, while also suggesting that contemporary reality shows and televised competitions differ from this extravaganza only in their lower mortality rate. As for visual spectacle, there's enough, but along with it, feeling of being slightly shortchanged; long shots of gigantic cityscapes, of fast trains gliding silkily through country, of massive crowds gathering to see this year's gladiators before they set off to kill one another, of decorative flames emanating from leads' costumes as pair is present to public for first time-all are cut bit short, as if further exposure would reveal them as one notch below first-rate.
On the other hand, costumes and makeup are riot of imagination design to evoke a level of topped-out decadence comparable to that of Nero's Rome or Louis XVI's Paris. Most noticeable of all, however, is the film's lack of hunting instinct. When we first met Katniss, she was years-old. In books she is described as slight and small for her age, with long black hair that she wears in braid. But in the movie she is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who is a lot healthier looking than could be expected of someone who is meant to be close to starvation.
Katniss has a strong, independent personality and is very good with bow and arrow. She lost her father in a mining accident when she was younger, and because her mother suffers from depression, Katniss has step in as mother figure for her younger sister Primrose. Katniss struggles each day to find enough food for her mother, Primrose and herself. With her bow and arrow, Katniss hunts for food in a restricted area outside of District 12, where she live, along with Gale Hawthorne, her fellow hunter and friend.
Gale and Katniss watch out for each other, and it's imply that they may have stronger feelings for each other. When Primrose is chosen in reaping ceremony to represent District 12 in the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place. Her bravery in taking her sister's place in the Hunger Games shows a softer side to her personality and wins over our affection.
While she adapts quickly to the kill-or-be-kill mentality of the Games, initially she is oblivious to co-tribute Peeta's love for her. However, she realise that a love story is what the Games' audience want to see, and is therefore her best chance of survival.
When Katniss has to pretend to be in love with Peeta, to win the affection of the audience, she finds it difficult as it betrays her principles of honesty and loyalty. However, above all else, Katniss is a survivor, and she is prepared to do whatever it takes to win the Games and return to her family. Even though she is a kick-butt heroine, Katniss is emotionally close off to those around her. She is unable to read other people's social cues and has trouble integrating with the showy and pretentious nature of much wealthier District 1.
Peeta is baker's son, and this position in District 12 put him above Katniss socially. Peeta brings emotion to the story that Katniss lacks. Romantic and artist, he loved her completely and utterly. But she has always been so focused on her family's survival that she failed to see it until he declared it during the Games. Peeta and Katniss had met in District 12, when she was out looking for food.
He had burnt a loaf of bread and had seen her outside his family's bakery, huddling in the rain in despair, because she couldn't find food for her family that day.
Instead of throwing burn bread out like his mother told him to, Peeta tosses it to Katniss, and in that action he reveals his true character. He is the ultimate carer. Children between the ages of 12 and 18 force to kill each other in a large arena until only one of them is left standing. It hardly sounds like an ideal story for pre-teens, or, depending on parental views, some early teens.
But many parents may be making a choice soon whether to bring their children to the cineplex when HUNGER GAMES, first installment of dystopian young-adult Trilogy about children taking part in a horrible reality show, arrives in theaters on March The movie is based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Collins, which is the first of a Trilogy.
Books violence, in which many children and teenagers are Kill, has been a hot topic since it was release. Star Jennifer Lawrence, who plays heroine Katniss Everdeen in the film, was asked about controversy after seven seconds of the film were cut to earn the movie a 12A rating in the UK, rating that would allow children 12 and older into theater, with younger children requiring an accompanying adult to gain entrance.
In America, movie is rat PG for intense violent thematic material and disturbing images, all involving teens. It'ss violence and brutality at the heart of the film, because it's what gets people angry to start uprising and to start revolution, she say.
I do think violence and brutality is justified, Lawrence say. But I understand if everybody has a different standard for ratings. Her hamminess is just the thing this kind of movie needs to remain memorable. A team is hired to create a morale-boosting movie during World War II, whose production runs quite a few snags as the scriptwriting sees several issues. The lead screenwriters clash and eventually grow feelings for one another as production nears.
His character is just the right blend of frustrating, charming, and romantic character that goes well as the male lead. The movie itself is a heartwarming feature the makes use of its period setting.
A teenager resolves to find her father after circumstances dictate his return after he had abandoned his family. Unfortunately for her, she finds out about the corruption in the world, as numerous villainous characters attempt to take advantage of her.
