Are you sure the cable is correct? Is there a cable? I thought he was using a device driver that implements two ports looped back to back. Yes, I was using software to implement two serial port.

You should have a structure to store the values in say, a collection. Collections maintain data in a linked list, so deleting and adding is easy but it is some what slow.

Create a class with two values, one for x and one for y. You could use CPoint for example. I have written it quickly without much thought to clarity of idea. Because you know my earlier message, I guess you can guess my thoughts. My question is I would like to know if I can take a selected datas to plot a real time graph. Input End If End Sub If you want to monitor the port download the following or a one similar to that so that you can see what hex data is sent back from the device. Marikanna, I have to say that you help me a lot starting this kind of communication but you are not completely right. Sugarboy rider. More specifically, I want to connect a button like a reset button to the serial port of my PC. Can you please tell me how I can connect this button to the serial port to which pins and if I have to use some electronic devices between the button and the serial port?

I would also like you to help me writting the code in VB 6. Well, I have used VB since version 3 for industrial controls and unless you want to use a power signal for you input, you can try to use a switch connected between pin 2 and 3. When you get your VB app working, you could pass a 1 out on the serial port, to the switch, then monitor the input side of the serial port. Whenever the switch is pressed, it will just "loopback" the 1 that's being sent by your VB app to the serial input, which you will then see in your app.

If you need to use a power signal instead, you will need some type of convertor to take the voltage signal and supply your serial port with an ASCII value you can read in VB. There are probably other ways, but I guess for a cheap, down and dirty solution, the "loopback" technique may accomplish what you are trying to do. I have several previous apps that use the MSCOMM control in and it's pretty simple actually, but I can pass some along if you need them.
